The Microgaming Network has decided to stop allowing access to the poker hand data that was available to players on the popular poker site.
According to sources at Microgaming, the company has stopped players from viewing hand histories that used to be available on the site. In addition, Microgaming has stopped letting players download and save bulk poker hand histories that could be mined with data analysis tools.
Using third-party data-mining tools, some players were able to identify weaknesses in the hand histories of other players to gain a competitive advantage in future poker games on the Microgaming site.
Microgaming’s decision to put a stop to the data mining of poker hand histories is part of a move to attract and retain recreational poker players and level the playing field for all players on the Microgaming site.
