A new iPhone app called Trustify promises to help people find qualified and affordable private investigators with the tap of a smartphone screen.
Trustify has been called the “Uber” for people trying to locate a licensed private investigator in their area.
For $60.00 per hour people can use Trustify to hire a reputable investigator for various PI jobs, including:
- Spying on a cheating spouse
- Investigating a nanny or babysitter
- Getting information on a potential date
- Conducting background checks on potential employees
- Searching for lost friends or family members
Trustify was created by entrepreneur Danny Boice after he encountered numerous problems and expenses trying to find a reliable private investigator to look into a personal family matter.
After spending too much time and money trying to locate a reliable PI online and being disappointed in the investigations that were done on his behalf, Boice came up with the idea for Trustify.
The app officially launched in the Washington D.C. area this month and plans to expand from there.
Boice’s motivation for starting Trustify was to democratize the field of private investigations so that more people could afford these professional services.
In an interview with the Washington City Paper, Boice said that so far the response from people has been overwhelmingly positive.
Boice said that Trustify has been used by people to locate old friends and high school sweethearts; do background checks on nannys and also investigate potential online dating partners that people have met on dating apps and sites like Tinder or Match.com.
Boice, who is a D.C. native, noted that Washington D.C. was a great place to launch a PI service like this since it is the intelligence capital of the United States and it is home to so many security, intelligence and investigations professionals who have worked at the FBI, CIA, DOD, Homeland Security and even local law enforcement.
Private investigators who sign up to work through the Trustify service must go through a lengthy and detailed hiring process.
All applicants have to be licensed PIs and must pass Trustify’s detailed background check and screening process to make sure the person has no criminal, personal or professional issues.
After that, potential candidates are put through a lengthy phone interview and screening process.
Finally, after successfully completing a test job assigned by the Trustify team, PIs can start taking investigation jobs from the app’s users.
All investigations, regardless of job type, cost users $60.00 an hour, with $30.00 of that fee going to the private investigator.
Trustify currently works with over 2,000 licensed PIs in the D.C. area and averages 10 new app users daily.
The company is currently hiring investigators for surveillance jobs as well as remote desk jobs.
Surveillance jobs are not entry level positions and require previous investigations and field surveillance work.
Remote desk jobs require the investigator to have access to proprietary people search and public record databases like Accurint and TLO.
In addition, PIs should have experience searching and accessing municipal and state public records as well as experience researching and writing detailed background check reports on people.
People can download the Trustify iPhone app from the Apple iTunes App Store.
