The Dakota Student newspaper at the University of North Dakota is reporting on the use of the popular social networking site FaceBook by college administrators to create behavioral profiles on students who face disciplinary issues.
According to a January 30, 2006 article –
Jerry Bulisco, the associate dean of Student Life, said that Facebook is used for other reasons.
“If students are written up for a violation on campus for alcohol, the Student Affairs office might look at their Facebook profile when they come into the office as an indicator of behavior,” Bulisco said.
He added that the Web site was not used to target specific students, but instead is used after the violation occurs.
